š Based on data from the STATISTA, it is projected that by 2028, four of the top six countries in terms of PPP GDP will be located in Asia, causing European economies to drop in the rankings.
š China and India have experienced significant economic growth since the 1990s, while Indonesia has recently entered the top 10 largest economies and is expected to reach the sixth position by 2028. Japan, a well-established economy, is expected to maintain its fourth place ranking until 2024, but Russia is projected to fall to seventh place.
š The rise in Asia's middle class is a driving force behind this shift in GDP. Although China was previously the face of market growth in the 21st century, the country is now facing challenges with an ageing population that will impact consumption. Indonesia, along with the Philippines and Malaysia, is expected to significantly increase their labour forces in the coming years, leading to an increase in average disposable incomes, according to the World Economic Forum.
