ECB President Christine Lagarde has warned that geopolitical tensions between the US and China could lead to a 5% increase in global inflation and threaten the positions of the US dollar and euro. š
Lagarde stated that disruptions in global supply chains could hit critical sectors and lead to a rise in consumer prices. She also mentioned that if global value chains fragment along geopolitical lines, it could lead to a decrease in dependence on the US dollar and euro.
She called for greater policy cohesion and cooperation among countries to create a virtuous circle of lower volatility, lower inflation, higher investment, and higher growth.
